Our Legacy

A Legacy of Faith, Obedience, and Service

Rumah Bapaku Bali is built upon a multi-generational legacy of faith rooted in obedience to Jesus Christ.

King Anak Agung Panji Tisna
1908–1978

King Anak Agung Panji Tisna

King Anak Agung Panji Tisna (1908–1978) was born into title, prestige, honour and lineage. He was the 11th king in the royal line of Panji Sakti, the great founder of the Buleleng kingdom, and served as ruler of Buleleng, Bali’s largest province, in North Bali. Respected as the Head among the 8 Kings of Bali, he carried the weight of history, culture, and responsibility with wisdom and humility. Yet within the walls of the palace, another journey was quietly unfolding..!

Surrounded by reverence and tradition, Anak Agung Panji Tisna felt a restlessness of the soul; a longing no title, power, or honour could satisfy. Through reading, reflection, and encounters with Christian teaching, he was guided and taught by Pastor Ambessa, whose counsel and faith helped him understand a different kind of Kingship: the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, marked not by authority, but rather love, and not by power, but by sacrifice.

This calling came slowly, through prayer and deep inner struggle. He inevitably understood the cost. To follow Christ meant misunderstanding, criticism, and the laying down of his earthly power, and his crown. Yet truth called him more strongly than the throne ever could.

In humility, King Anak Agung Panji Tisna chose to step down. Not away from his people, but toward his faith and his calling, and not in rejection of Balinese culture, but in obedience to a much greater King – The King of Kings.

His decision to follow Jesus Christ was an act of rare courage. A King wanting to become a servant to the ultimate King. A ruler who bowed his heart, and in surrender he found divine peace.

Today, King Anak Agung Panji Tisna is remembered not only as a ruler and literary pioneer, but also as a living testimony that faith and culture can walk together in harmony. This King sacrificed his crown for the love he found in Jesus Christ, who he knew made the ultimate sacrifice for all of humanity!

Even a King must kneel.
And in kneeling, he found true life and purpose.

Pastor Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna
1938–2017

Pastor Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna

Pastor Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna was the 12th descendant in the royal line of Panji Sakti, born in 1938 as a son of King Anak Agung Panji Tisna and his mother, Jro Mekele Sadpada. From birth, his life carried both royal heritage and profound challenge. Born prematurely, he lost his sight, and despite many attempts, planned surgeries were repeatedly cancelled, leaving his condition unresolved.

At the age of nine, hope led him and his mother to Makassar, on the island of Sulawesi, where a medical specialist was available. During this difficult season, a local church pastor generously offered them a place to stay in the church parsonage while awaiting medical treatment. It was there, far from home, that a far greater encounter awaited him.

It was during a Christian crusade led by Pastor Osborn from the United States, that young Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna first encountered Jesus Christ. In a moment of divine grace, God touched and miraculously healed his blindness. This life-changing experience marked the beginning of a deep and lasting calling. From that day forward, his life was devoted to serving Christ.

Following his healing, he pursued theological studies at seminary, preparing himself for ministry. He later returned to Bali, where he faithfully served as a pastor and missionary, ministering across the regency’s of Buleleng, Negara, and Karangasem. Known for his humility and cultural sensitivity, he became widely respected for using Bahasa Bali to share the Gospel, allowing faith to be communicated in a language close to the hearts of the Balinese people.

Pastor Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna married Desak Ketut Suci, a dedicated teacher from the neighbouring island of Lombok. Together, they were blessed with five children and shared a life of service, education, and ministry. Reflecting his passion for both faith and learning, he established SMP Anugerah, a secondary school for grades 7–9, providing education grounded in strong moral values.

In 1983, he became a pioneer of Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) in Bali and founded the first congregation, GBI Anugerah Tuhan. His ministry laid a strong foundation for the growth of the church and the spread of the Gospel throughout the region.

Pastor Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna passed away in 2017, leaving behind a powerful legacy of faith, obedience, and cultural bridge-building. Remembered as a devoted servant of God, a missionary at heart, and a humble descendant of kings, his life stands as a testimony that God’s calling can transform suffering into purpose—and royal lineage into faithful service.

Anak Agung Ayu Natalinawathi, the youngest daughter of Pastor Anak Agung Oka Panji Tisna, inherited not only a royal lineage but a heart deeply shaped by compassion and faith. Like her father and grandfather before her, she carried a quiet yet powerful calling—to serve God by loving people, especially underprivileged children longing for necessities and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.

Her journey led her far from Bali. She worked with international companies and lived in Jakarta and then in the United States, where life appeared secure and successful. Yet beneath the comfort and opportunity, a deeper calling continued to stir—one that could not be silenced. While working for a well-known family in the U.S., she formed a close friendship with Kim Boyer, a relationship that would become a turning point in her life.

One evening, during a simple dinner conversation, Natalinawathi shared the burden on her heart to Kim Boyer—the call to serve needy children in Bali. That honest moment became the beginning of everything. The vision was heard, the “ball was picked up,” and the direction of her life was forever changed.

In 2008, she returned to Bali and founded Rumah Bapaku Bali Foundation a year after. With open hands and an open home, she began bringing children from villages in Bali and Sumba—children who were wounded, broken, no hope and living in deep poverty. She welcomed them not into an institution, but into a loving family.

From the very beginning, Natalinawathi’s mission was supported by generous hearts from around the world—friends and sponsors from the USA, Australia, Belgium, The Netherlands, Turkey, and local Indonesia supporters. Their partnership enabled her to provide not only love, a home and protection, but education, care, and real opportunities for the children, amplifying her impact far beyond what one solitary person could achieve alone.

Alongside raising her own children, Grace Angeline, and Ezekiel Yoshihiro, she poured her life into shaping the future of 36 children—18 girls and 18 boys—through love, kindness, discipline, and a gentle Christ-centred heart. Her service was never loud, but it was faithful, daily, and sacrificial.

Sixteen years later, the fruit of that obedience stands as living testimony. The children are no longer children:

  • 16 are registered nurses serving in hospitals across Indonesia.
  • 6 work on international cruise ships.
  • 2 are teachers.
  • 1 is an artist.
  • 4 have graduated from Bethel Seminary, Jakarta.

Each of them carries out their work with kindness and compassion, putting into practice the love, care, and lessons they were taught as children at Rumah Bapaku. The values of empathy, patience, and service that were nurtured in their early years continue to guide them in serving others every day.

Among them, the four seminary graduates—Iren, Desy, Yohan, and Evan—chose to return to Bali, carrying the legacy forward. Together, they founded a new ministry, Generation of Hope, serving the community and continuing the cycle of love they once received.

After marrying Gordon Molloy, Natalinawathi became known as Natalie Anak Agung Molloy. In marriage, the calling did not diminish—it was strengthened. Gordon faithfully stands beside her, supporting and helping to fulfill the vision God placed in her heart, as they walk together in unity of faith and purpose.

Today, Natalie Anak Agung Molloy’s life reflects a legacy that spans generations:
a king who laid down his crown,
a son healed and called to serve,
and a daughter who opened her home so others could rise.

This is not merely a family story—it is a testimony of obedience, love in action, and hope passed on.

Our Big Family

Every day at Rumah Bapaku is filled with laughter, learning, and love. Seeing these smiles is our greatest reward.

Today, these individuals are living stable and independent lives as nurses, teachers, hospitality professionals, and contributors to society. The legacy now continues through the next generation, as children raised in the home step into lives of service—reflecting the faith, compassion, and servant leadership they witnessed daily.

What began with a king’s surrender to Christ continues as a living legacy of transformed lives and restored futures.

Why We Exist

"We believe every child deserves a home, every broken heart deserves hope, and every life deserves the opportunity to encounter the love of Jesus Christ."
