Among the 36 children raised at Rumah Bapaku, four—Iren, Desy, Yohan, and Evan—experienced firsthand the transformative power of love, care, and guidance. Growing up in a home filled with compassion, patience, and gentle discipline, they learned not only skills and education but also the meaning of selfless service.

These four young adults caught the legacy of Natalie’s vision. They saw how one heart devoted to love and faith could change lives, and now they carry that same spirit forward. Together, they founded Generation of Hope, a ministry dedicated to serving communities across Bali, giving back to the villages, children, and families who need hope most.

"Love Passed On, Now Serving Bali"

The work of Generation of Hope is a living testament: love transforms lives. The children who were once rescued, nurtured, and empowered are now the ones giving, teaching, and inspiring others. Their lives reflect a truth witnessed by all who support this vision: that faithful love, guided by God, has the power to change not just one life, but generations. Their story proclaims that love truly changes people—and people, in turn, can change the world.

A Gentle Heart with a Steady Calling

Desy came to the home in 2009 at just six years old after growing up in poverty as the firstborn child of her family. Desy developed an unwavering conviction having seen firsthand just how Christ changed her life in her new home full of love; she knew without doubt that her calling was to serve Jesus as a pastor.
Witnessing lives being restored through Rumah Bapaku Bali deeply shaped her faith. Her love for others grew stronger as she saw God’s work lived out daily.
Following her calling, Desy studied at Bethel Seminary in Jakarta from high school through to completing her Undergraduate Degree in Bible Teaching. She always knew she would return to her home, Bali to serve the land and people who raised her.
Today, Desy ministers to families in rural villages, systematically spreading the Gospel to those who are unknowing but desperate for Christ’s love. She also uses her skills in IT and media to support Church Ministry and has begun serving children in orphanages through an after-school program inspired by one of our international sponsors.
Desy’s journey shows how a child nurtured in love and faith can grow into a life that gently brings others closer to Jesus.

Restored to Restore Others

Evan came to the home in early 2016 at the age of 16, carrying deep wounds from a childhood marked by hardship and brokenness. Though strong on the outside, anger and pain shaped much of his early life.
After studying nursing for three years, Evan realized his heart was searching for something more than a profession—it was searching for purpose. When he encountered Jesus, everything began to change. Healing replaced anger, and compassion replaced pain.
Evan completed his Undergraduate Degree in Bible Teaching at Bethel Seminary and later served in Batam for one year, yet his heart always longed to return to Bali and serve those who, like him, knew what it meant to feel forgotten.
Today, Evan ministers in prisons, hospitals, and elderly care homes. He serves not from a distance, but from shared personal experience—walking alongside others with humility and love. Evan has been fully restored, and he now dedicates his life restoring hope in others.

When Love Finds a Hidden Heart

Iren arrived at the home in January 2016 as a quiet, reserved child. Poverty and hardship in Sumba had taught her to protect her heart, carrying her pain quietly on her own, yet beneath her hardened exterior, lived a tender faith.
One day, she shared a dream she had kept hidden—she wanted to become a Pastor, like her aunty who helped open the door for her to come to Bali. That moment revealed a calling already taking root.
In the safety of the home, love began its work. Iren grew from a lonely child into someone with confidence, faith, and purpose. She pursued her education in Jakarta through high school and completed her Undergraduate Degree in Bible Teaching.
Today, Iren leads Generation of Hope and ministers the youth of Bali. Young people feel safe with her because she listens with heart and mind and leads with understanding. She guides those who she sees her past self in, helping those who are silently suffering and focuses on restoring back their confidence.
Iren’s life is living proof that when a child is provided love, safety, faith, and time, God can turn hidden pain into leadership and hope.

When Prayer Becomes a Miracle

Yohan grew up in deep poverty in Sumba, with little hope for the future. When he heard that children would be given the opportunity to live in Bali, he cried out to God with all his heart to be chosen.
At first, the door seemed closed. But the day before the children were due to leave, one child cancelled, and Yohan’s prayers were answered. That moment became a turning point in his life.
Yohan embraced his opportunity fully with determination. After living in the home, he continued his education and completed his Undergraduate Degree in Bible Teaching in Jakarta. His journey was marked by perseverance, faith, knowing God’s timing is perfect.
Today, Yohan serves children with deep compassion. He connects easily with them because he understands their struggles from his own experience. Through storytelling and creative teaching, he helps children grow in Christ.
Now back in Bali, Yohan carries a vision to establish Buleleng Kidz Club, reaching children aged 6–12 across towns, villages, and remote areas.
Yohan’s life is a testimony that God hears the cries of the broken—and answers with hope.
